One of Ireland’s most accomplished songwriters and performers, John Spillane is a musician, storyteller, poet and dreamer whose work is deeply rooted in people, place and story.

A native of Cork, which he lovingly calls “the centre of the universe”, John draws on Irish traditional music and the bardic tradition to create songs that are uniquely his own. His distinctive, almost sean-nós vocal style moves effortlessly from beautiful, melancholy poetry to roguish humour, captivating audiences with performances that charm, mesmerise and entertain in equal measure.

A two-time Meteor Award winner for Best Folk/Trad Act, John has released 13 albums throughout a celebrated career spanning almost three decades. His songs have been recorded by artists including Christy Moore, Sharon Shannon and Seán Keane.

His most recent studio album, 100 Snow White Horses, was released in 2021 to widespread critical acclaim, followed byIn Another Light, a live career-spanning album recorded at Cork Opera House.
