On the morning of 28 January 1921, a gun battle raged at Godfrey’s Cross, Dripsey. Frank Busteed, IRA OC of the 6th Battalion Cork, and his men were betrayed — but by whom? Shame the Devil explores the truth behind one man’s service and one woman’s duty, in a story drawn from a pivotal moment in Cork’s history.
Following its sold-out run at the Everyman Theatre, the production’s final performance in October 2022 was filmed by Brian O’Glanby. This recording will be screened for one night only at Briery Gap on Thursday 22 October 2026.
Before the screening, co-writer and producer Alan Kiely will give a short introduction from the stage, providing context for the production and the events on which it is based.
The screening is dedicated to the memory of Alf McCarthy and David Coon, sadly departed friends and colleagues.
This is a charity event, with all profits from the screening going to the Irish Cancer Society.
