The evening opens with the youthful brilliance of Beethoven’s String Quartet Op. 18 No. 1, alongside the evocative Adagio and Scherzoby Irish composer Brian Boydell. The programme continues with Philip Glass’s String Quartet No. 2, originally composed as incidental music for a stage adaptation of Samuel Beckett’s Company, before concluding with the lyrical elegance of Mendelssohn’s String Quartet Op. 44 No. 1.

A fascinating meeting of classical tradition, Irish composition and minimalist innovation, performed by one of the world’s leading string quartets.
