West Cork’s own Molly O'Mahony launches her new album and tour, Waiting On The World, with a stop in Briery Gap on Satudrday, the 30th of May.

Molly O'Mahony is a singer-songwriter from West Cork. She first emerged as a formidable voice in the Irish art-folk scene as front woman of Mongoose, with whom she released two albums and toured extensively over the course of a decade.

In 2022, Molly released her debut solo album, The House Of David, a deeply personal collection written largely during lockdown while back home in Ballydehob. Her shift into solo work marked a turning inward, with the record introducing audiences to a songwriter unafraid of emotional candour, pairing spine-tingling harmonies with diaristic honesty. The House Of David earned national radio support including airplay on RTÉ Radio 1 and received a nomination for Best Debut Album at the Hot Press Awards, confirming O’Mahony as one of Ireland’s most compelling emerging voices.

Four years on, she returns with her most expansive and emotionally resonant work to date. Rooted in Ireland’s storytelling tradition yet shaped by a contemporary global unease, her new album Waiting On The World explores love, uncertainty and resilience in a post-COVID landscape. "Molly’s voice echoes ethereally like a cherubic Patti Smith, like a celestial PJ Harvey soaring” Barry Egan, Sunday Independent “Stunning, impressive and evocative...” Alexandra Anderson, Hotpress

Molly brings her quietly powerful songwriting for an intimate set, with support from fellow folk artist Louis Cormack.

-----

Louis Cormack is a singer-songwriter born in Aberdeen, raised in Wiltshire and refined in Cork, crafting intimate folk songs. His debut album, Black Water, recorded live to two-track tape, introduced a raw and melancholic honesty to his sound. His follow-up album The Workshop, created in Glasgow with Boo Hewerdine, expands his sonic palette while staying rooted in vulnerability and storytelling.
