The Flowers of May tells the story of David and Lisa, parents navigating the joys and challenges of raising their child with autism. The play delves into the realities of parenting: From encountering patronising in-laws and not too friendly neighbours, to learning how to support each other through differences. At its heart, it is a story of resilience, love, and understanding that resonates deeply with audiences of all backgrounds.

Written by Matthew McMahon and produced by Eileen Gomez, and also performed by Matthew and Eileen, this hilarious and heartfelt production explores the triumphs, challenges, and quiet beauty of raising a child with autism, along with trying to maintain a relationship as partners. Following a successful debut run at the Garage Theatre, Matthew and Eileen and now bringing this powerful, critically acclaimed play to new audiences.

At its heart, The Flowers of May is grounded in authenticity, a testament to lived experience. Both performers are parents of children with autism, bringing a raw authenticity to their roles that has touched the hearts of audiences. Directed by Emma Saunders, the play combines compelling storytelling with an intimate performance style, ensuring its themes of empathy and inclusion reach all who see it.

Two & One Productions, founded in 2022, is a Co. Monaghan-based theatre group, and is dedicated to creating meaningful theatrical works that inspire, challenge, and connect communities.
