Join Leevy on this special night of raucous music and raw storytelling as they debut their maiden album, Baile Mhúirne or The Soldiers March the Paps of Anú.

Born out of the rich musical soil of the Muskerry Gaeltacht in West Cork, Leevy have quickly built a reputation as one of Ireland’s most compelling emerging live acts. Their debut album, Baile Mhúirne or The Soldiers March the Paps of Anú, arrives this May with a special launch performance at Briery Gap.

Formed among friends, this five-piece band blend folk storytelling, punk energy and traditional Irish instrumentation into a sound that is both wild and deeply rooted in place. Their music has been honed through years of relentless gigging across the country, from festival stages to packed venues, earning them a reputation for electrifying, unpredictable performances.

The album itself is steeped in the folklore, landscape and contradictions of rural Ireland. Taking inspiration from the nearby Paps of Anú — ancient mountains named after the mother goddess Anu — their upcoming record explores the strange space where myth, memory and modern life collide. Through thirteen tracks, songwriter Amhlaoibh McSweeney guides listeners through tales of sacrificial burnings at wakes, songs of loss, and reflections on the fading natural world.

Musically, the band moves effortlessly between roaring folk-punk anthems and tender traditional arrangements. Driving drums, banjos, whistles and heavy guitars collide with rich vocal harmonies and moments of quiet reflection, creating a sound that feels equally at home in a smoky pub or on a festival stage.

With Baile Mhúirne or The Soldiers March the Paps of Anú, Leevy capture the beauty, humour and darkness of the Irish psyche — an album rooted in tradition but bursting with restless modern energy. This will be a special night of raucous music and raw storytelling.

There is rhythm in the sadness; there is rhythm in the sod.
