After being kicked out of his band, struggling musician Dewey Finn (Jack Black) finds himself posing as a substitute teacher at an elite private school. Bored by the curriculum but inspired by his students’ hidden talents, Dewey secretly transforms the class into a rock group, teaching them everything from guitar riffs and stage presence to the importance of teamwork and self-belief. As the students prepare for a local Battle of the Bands competition, they discover talents they never knew they had—and learn that sometimes the biggest lessons happen outside the classroom.
