Film Synopsis | A joyous celebration of Irish music, identity and adventure,Trad follows Shóna McAnally, a gifted young fiddle player from the Donegal Gaeltacht who has grown weary of the traditional music that has defined her life. When she and her younger brother Mickey join a colourful troupe of travelling musicians, they embark on a spirited journey across Ireland filled with music, friendship, romance and self-discovery.
Directed by Lance Daly and featuring standout performances from Megan Nic Fhionnghaile, Aidan Gillen and Sarah Greene, the film is a heartfelt coming-of-age story that explores what it means to embrace your roots while forging your own path. Winner of the Audience Award at the Galway Film Fleadh, Trad captures the energy and joy of traditional Irish music with authenticity and warmth.
Filmed across Ireland and steeped in the culture of sessions, storytelling and song,Trad is both a love letter to Irish traditional music and an uplifting crowd-pleaser that proves heritage can be something vibrant, living and full of possibility.
